MTV confirmed that Executive VP at Def Jam, Shakir Stewart, committed suicide Saturday (November 1st) in his Marietta, Ga. home.

Stewart was 34 years-old. Reports say that he died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the head.

Island Def Jam Music Group released the following statement upon hearing news of the death:

"L.A. Reid and all of us at Island Def Jam Music Group are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and colleague Shakir Stewart. Shakir was an amazing man in every sense of the word. A truly incredible friend and father who was an inspiration to not only our artists and employees, but to his family and the many people that had the privilege of counting him as a friend. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family at this very difficult time."

Stewart was promoted from his position as Senior VP, A&R of Def Jam Recordings to Executive VP back in June.

During his career, Stewart was responsible for the signings of such artists as Young Jeezy and Rick Ross.

The mother of the "person of interest" William Balfour was a phone in guest of Nancy Grace. Ms. Balfour repeatedly tried to over talk Nancy and give her sass--Well let's just say Nancy wasn't having that ish!

May we please have a moment of silence for the family of Grammy award winning artist/actor Jennifer Hudson.

The bodies of her mother and brother were discovered Friday afternoon and an Amber Alert was issued for her nephew, who was missing at the time. But as of 10:00am this morning the Chicago Tribune reported that the missing SUV was found with the body of 7 y/o Julian King inside.

"A child's body was found in the vehicle police were looking for in their search for 7-year-old Julian King, the missing nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson.

The 1994 white Chevrolet Suburban with Illinois license plate X584859 was found in the 1300 block of South Kolin Avenue around 8 a.m. Live TV shots showed a white Chevrolet Suburban being towed away.

The Cook County medical examiner's office has sent investigators to the scene and said the body of a black boy was found inside, an office spokesman said. The child had not been identified.

A Chicago police spokesman released no information about the discovery but are planning a news conference near where the vehicle was found.

Julian was reported missing and an Amber Alert was issued Friday after his grandmother and uncle were found shot to death inside the family's home in the 7000 block of South Yale Avenue.

If the boy is identified as Julian King, it will confirm detectives' worst fears because a law enforcement source said bullet casings were found in the boy's room on Friday. But, the source said they had not found other evidence of violence in the room."

Today, around 3:00pm reports started flooding from Chicago that the Dreamgirle/American Idols stars mother and an unidentified man had been murdered.



It was later revealed that that man was her brother Jason. And that her nephew is being held for ransom.




"Fire officials said two bodies were discovered inside a home belonging to Hudson’s mother just before 3:00 this afternoon.

The home is located at 7019 South Yale in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.

A representative of the family’s church, Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist, told reporters that 57-year-old Darnell Hudson was one of the victims
